Job Description

Toast is recruiting on behalf of a growing technology company operating in the human services and social impact software space. The company is a mid-sized, venture-backed organization building a modern platform that supports individuals navigating complex, real-world situations. They are at an exciting inflection point, investing heavily in product quality, engineering depth, and user experience to scale their impact. This is a full-stack engineering role for someone who wants to be closer to the product, the decisions being made, and the people being served by the technology.

Responsibilities

  • Own features end-to-end, from scoping and design through to production and iteration
  • Build and maintain functionality across both frontend and backend systems
  • Contribute meaningfully to architecture and technical direction
  • Collaborate directly with product leadership and external engineering partners while helping maintain a coherent internal product vision
  • Improve performance, reliability, and usability across the platform
  • Iterate quickly based on real user feedback
  • Be a visible, contributing voice in how the product is built and why

Requirements

  • 4 to 5 years of experience as a software engineer with meaningful exposure across the full stack
  • Comfortable working in both frontend and backend environments and able to move between them as the work demands
  • Strong problem-solving instincts with the ability to operate with some ambiguity
  • Experience collaborating across engineering, product, and external stakeholders
  • Familiarity with React and modern JavaScript, Node.js and Python, AWS or GCP, and SQL and NoSQL databases
  • Adaptable and curious as the stack will continue to evolve
  • Genuine interest in building technology that has real-world impact

Benefits

  • Competitive base salary in the range of $120,000 to $125,000 depending on experience
  • Equity participation in a company positioned for meaningful growth
  • Direct visibility into user outcomes, with a short line between your contributions and the product
  • The platform supports people navigating some of the most difficult moments in their lives, meaning your work has immediate, tangible impact on real users in real situations
  • Opportunity to grow into a more senior, product-minded engineering leader as the team scales
