Toast is recruiting on behalf of this company for a Senior Software Engineer to join their San Francisco team. This company is redefining the $10T global insurance industry through a powerful combination of AI-driven automation and embedded fintech, helping thousands of businesses streamline financial operations.

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will play a key role in shaping product development, leading technical initiatives, and working directly with customers to build scalable, high-impact financial tools. You’ll collaborate in a fast-paced environment with a tight-knit team and contribute to a platform that is processing billions of dollars annually.
 

Responsibilities



First 30 Days:
  • Deeply understand the platform, product offerings, and customer workflows by collaborating with internal teams and customers.
  • Begin contributing to user-facing product features using Ruby on Rails and Next.js.
  • Work closely with designers and product managers to deliver thoughtful solutions to customer challenges.

First 60 Days:
  • Lead development of end-to-end features that process large-scale insurance payments.
  • Build intuitive, performant user interfaces that support complex financial operations.
  • Enhance internal tools to improve operational efficiency.
  • Continuously improve code quality through monitoring and proactive iteration.

Ongoing:
  • Translate complex customer needs into scalable, production-ready solutions.
  • Help build a robust point-of-sale system tailored to the insurance industry.
  • Integrate AI to automate time-consuming tasks for back-office teams.
  • Influence the technical direction and scalability of the platform as it grows.
  • Mentor fellow engineers, providing code reviews and technical guidance.
 

Requirements

 
  • 5+ years of experience in full stack or backend web development.
  • At least 3 years working in a high-growth startup environment.
  • Strong experience with relational databases.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and scale user-centric products.
  • Eagerness to learn and solve complex business problems with technology.

Nice to Have:
  • Familiarity with Ruby on Rails and/or Next.js.
  • Experience developing external APIs or integrating with platforms like Salesforce.
  • Background in building fintech, checkout, or insurance-related applications.
