Job Description



Toast is recruiting on behalf of this global law firm for an experienced and strategic IT Enterprise Architect to lead the architectural vision and governance across their Canadian technology portfolio. Reporting to the Canadian CIO, this leadership role is critical in shaping the firm’s IT strategy, ensuring alignment with business priorities, and enabling the delivery of secure, scalable, and innovative technology solutions. The role involves close collaboration with Canadian and global IT teams to advance enterprise architecture and support transformative initiatives that enhance business productivity across the firm.
 

Responsibilities

 
  • Develop and maintain enterprise IT roadmaps and architectural frameworks, including standards, principles, and governance processes.
  • Provide architectural oversight and leadership across all major IT projects, ensuring alignment with business goals and enterprise architecture standards.
  • Lead the Technical Design Authority (TDA) / Architecture Review Board (ARB) process to assess and approve technology initiatives.
  • Collaborate with technical leads, solution architects, and security teams to ensure solutions are robust, secure, and aligned with firm-wide IT strategy.
  • Drive innovation by identifying emerging technologies and piloting proof-of-concepts with cross-functional teams.
  • Support the implementation of the firm’s GenAI strategy and lead architectural aspects of the data program.
  • Participate in the global architecture community of practice and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders across regions.
  • Champion continuous improvement, identifying efficiencies and cost-saving opportunities in existing systems and processes.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to senior business leaders on IT matters and digital transformation opportunities.
  • Monitor industry trends and legal technology developments to keep the firm ahead of the curve.
  • Actively contribute as a member of the IT leadership team.
 

Requirements

 
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 10+ years’ experience in roles such as Technical Business Analyst, Solution Architect, or Enterprise Architect.
  • Relevant certifications preferred: TOGAF, Azure Architect, CISSP, ITIL (minimum Foundation level required).
  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365, SAP, iManage, SaaS/PaaS platforms, and cloud-based technologies.
  • Legal sector experience is a strong asset.
  • Broad architectural experience across infrastructure, networking, security, and data management.
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to present complex ideas clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong leadership and collaboration skills, with proven ability to influence and guide cross-functional teams.
  • Experience in regulated environments, with a critical eye toward modernization opportunities.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and French is considered an asset.
